Benefits of Cork Flooring
- Eco-Friendly: Harvested from the bark of cork oak trees, it's a renewable resource.
- Comfort: Provides a soft, cushioned feel underfoot.
- Insulation: Offers natural thermal and acoustic insulation.
- Hypoallergenic: Resistant to mold, mildew, and pests.
Maintenance Tips
1. Regular Cleaning:
- Sweeping/Vacuuming: Remove dirt and debris regularly to prevent scratches.
- Damp Mopping: Use a damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner; avoid excessive water.
2. Protective Measures:
- Furniture Pads: Place felt pads under furniture legs to prevent dents.
- Rugs and Mats: Use breathable rugs in high-traffic areas; avoid rubber-backed mats.
3. Humidity Control:
- Maintain indoor humidity between 30-60% to prevent expansion or contraction.
4. Sunlight Protection:
- Use curtains or blinds to minimize direct sunlight, which can fade cork flooring over time.
5. Immediate Spill Cleanup:
- Wipe up spills promptly to prevent moisture damage.
Cork Flooring Installation Considerations
- Proper installation: Crucial for the longevity of cork flooring:
- Subfloor Preparation: Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, and level.
- Acclimation: Allow cork flooring to acclimate to room conditions before installation.
- Sealing: Apply a protective sealant to enhance durability and moisture resistance.
